As we welcome the new year, we are also excited to welcome an array of new trends in the maternity space. The Apéro girls have put together a list of six top maternity fashion trends to keep an eye on in 2024.
1. Patterned Maxis
We love a pattern but also understand that it may not always be a fan favourite for our mums and their growing baby bump. However, subtle and simple patterns may be the answer to our prayers like those featured on Rose McIver at the 2024 Golden Globes.
2. A Matching Moment
Movement and comfortability are always at the forefront when styling for the mother. We are loving a matching moment for its effortless but put-together look. One of our favourite ‘It girls’, Suki Waterhouse, has opted for a glacier grey coloured pant and matching long sleeve set for the ultimate relaxed look.
3. Power Suits
Power moves and power suits. Tennis icon, Naomi Osaka is the moment, sporting a gorgeous silky blue power suit. We are all here for corporate styling with big oversized blazers making a statement amongst soon-to-be mummas. A blazer can be the perfect edition to even the most casual fits. For comfort, you can also dress your blazer down with a pair with loose pants and sneakers and style with a tote, oval sunnies and baseball cap.
4. Chunky Ribbed Knit
Ribbed knits will always be a forever favourite for its amazing elasticity for growing bellies, but chunky ribbed pieces are making an emergence amongst more and more pregnant mummas. We are loving the versatility and longevity of this material that generously caters for pregnancy, breastfeeding and beyond.
5. Functional Maternity Wear
Functional maternity wear is IN in 2024. Gone are the days of unflattering, unstylish and impractical pieces. Whether it be secret breast-feeding friendly zips or fabrics that can stretch to your heart's desire, designs and garments that embody a mother’s-first approach is what mums are on the hunt for this year.
6. Everything Red
Bold and dark reds came in hot and firing in late 2023 and won’t be going anywhere in 2024 as they make their way into the maternity fashion space. Deep reds and maroons make for perfect statement and staple pieces in any wardrobe. Whether it's featured on a simple tee, accents on pants, or shirts, or an everyday accessory, red is here to stay.
